Day #1
Emily:  I know y'all are shocked that I have my colored denim jeans on...but what can I say, I love them! And they are so comfy!! This was the first time I wore them with heels, and I loved the look - if I do say so myself :)  Shirt - Juicy Couture; Pants - The Limited; Shoes - Michael Kors; Necklace and Bracelets - Stella & Dot

Lizzy:  Em, I'm liking the skinnies with heels... hmm... maybe if I have an occasion where I don't have too stand long or chase little ones... I might try it!  I, too, love these pants because they are so, so comfy!  Top - Juicy Couture Outlet; Jeggings - Gap; Flats - Target; Necklace - Stella & Dot

Day #2
Emily: Oh wait, is that me in colored denim again?? Oh, why yes it is! This is my new Old Navy get-up. These are the first colored denim that I have that aren't skinnies...and yes, oh yes, I love them!  I felt very springy and cheery in this outfit! Shirt and Jeans - Old Navy: Shoes - Frye; Watch - Michael Kors

Lizzy:  So, do you remember that CAbi party I went to???  Here is the skirt I liked and ended up getting... what do you think??  This past weekend I had a retreat in Milwaukee with some of the ladies from my bible study.  This skirt was great for the ride there... just wish it would have been a little warmer!!  Tank - Banana Republic; Jacket - Gap; Skirt - CAbi; Flats - Target; Necklaces - Stella & Dot

Day #3
Emily:  I loved this dress when it first came out at the beginning of last year. Well, if you wait long enough, it will be at the outlet store for cheap!  Instead of $200+, I paid about $50.  I can definitely handle that.  And I got to wear my new green pumps that I got from Sole Society. Yay for color!!  Oh, and can you tell I couldn't take my hair longer anymore...short and sassy is back with a vengeance!  Dress - BCBGMaxAzria; Bracelets - Coach and Stella & Dot; Earrings - Stella & Dot

Lizzy:  This is one of the outfits I wore in Milwaukee.  I actually dug into my "work" clothing bin to find my navy pants.  It is full of suits, button-down shirts and dresses.  I absolutely LOVE this top - it can be dress or casual.  It goes great with these earrings (my hair is hiding them).  Sweater - JCrew; Tank - Banana Republic Outlet; Pants - The Limited; Earrings - Stella & Dot

Are you loving all of the color this season?

Have you heard the new beauty acronym?

- Emily

BB. Beauty Balm. That's the new acronym that I'm seeing everywhere I go...and when I'm flipping through magazines.  My good friend, Missy, emailed me a few weeks ago and said, "You and Lizzy need to do a post on BB."  My response? "Uh, what is BB?!?!?"

So after a little Googling, I discovered that Beauty Balms are all the new rage. Try it. You'll get 29 million results!  Missy told me she was using Too Faced's brand. So, when mom was here shopping, I picked up a Too Faced Beauty Balm and she picked up Smashbox's BB.

After I've been using it for two weeks, I have to say that I LOVE it.  Not only is it easy to apply and makes my skin look flawless (and gives me that pretty pregnant glow MINUS the whole being pregnant part), it has SPF 20.  I'm horrible about putting sunscreen on my face unless I'm going to the pool...and I hate the smell of sunscreen.

Here's what the website has to say:

"Our innovative beauty balm offers multiple skincare and makeup benefits in one simple step. Our powerful, multi-mineral complex instantly achieves a healthy glow and improves skin's overall appearance.
1. Light-diffusing pigments tint and add radiance (available in 4 shades)
2. Anti-aging, multi-mineral complex primes & prevents damage.
3. Moisturizes with oil-free hydration.
4. Hypo-allergenic and soothing for all skin types.
5. Broad-spectrum, chemical-free SPF 20

More To Love:
  • Anti-aging, Multi-mineral Complex: Magnesium, Potassium, Zinc as well as Ginseng, Ginko Biloba.
  • Soothes & Nourishes: Vitamins A & E, as well as Chamomile soothe and nourishes while our oil-free hydrating formula moisturizes.
  • Blends easily: Four gorgeous shades, with luminosity and effortless blendability to suit individual skin tones and shades needs.
  • Sun Protection: Broad-spectrum, chemical-free SPF 20 offers optimum protection from the sun's harmful UVA/UVB rays.
  • Muli-use: Can be used as a primer to prep skin for either foundation for more coverage or powder for a lighter finish."

Now, I need to talk to my mom and see how she is liking her Smashbox brand.  I almost got that one because the SPF is higher - 35.  And come to find out, now Stila has one.  And I'm totally a Stila girl!  But, if I wanted to be more on a budget, I just saw an ad for Garnier, which you can get at Target or a drug store.

Are you going to join in the new BB craze? I think Lizzy needs to hop on because it's so easy and light to put on, it's perfect for stay-at-home moms that are on the go!

Day #1
Emily: It must have been cardigan day for Lizzy and I. I love the blue and green combo...and no, these aren't jeans, they are actually dress pants. :) Cardigan and Shirt - Old Navy; Pants - The Limited; Shoes - Steve Madden; Necklace - Stella & Dot

Lizzy: OOOO... I personally love Em's necklace!  She's wearing one of the new statements and I'm sporting one of my favs from when I started selling Stella & Dot.  And I must say, I love, love, love this cardigan!  The length is just perfect in both the body and sleeves.  I'm tempted to buy it in another color beings it's on sale!!  Cardigan - Nordstrom; Tee - The Limited; Jeans - DL1961; Flats - Jessica Simpson

Day #2
Emily: I had my eye on this skirt for a while, so I jumped on it when it went on sale! You know me, the bargain shopper! Not to mention, I'm still fascinated with pencil skirts. Shirt and Skirt - J. Crew; Watch - Michael Kors; Shoes - Michael Kors

Lizzy:  This was actually my St. Patty's day outfit.  I swear it looks more green in person!  I actually pulled this out of my "work clothes" bin.  It's fun finding new and different ways to wear something I once wore with a suit!  Top - The Limited; Necklace - Stella & Dot; Jeggings - Gap; Flats - Target

Day #3
Emily: I thought my week was rounded out with wearing blue, but I was told this shirt is green. Whatevs...:) I cannot believe I wore a sleeveless shirt in March!! I think it's time to start busting out the fake tan lotion so I don't blind people with my whiteness!  Shirt and Pants - The Limited; Shoes - Jessica Simpson; Necklace and Bracelet - Stella & Dot

Lizzy:  Ah - yet another "work" shirt... haven't worn this one for quite sometime now... probably the 18 months or so since I quit working!  I love this color!  Shirt - JCrew; Necklace - Gap; Belt - Target; Jeans - The Limited; Flats - Target

Did you get to bust out some more summer-like attire this week with the crazy weather across the U.S.?!?

Vegas, Baby!

- Emily

I get to go to Vegas at the end of next month...and I haven't been there since 1992. Uh yeah, my guess is Vegas has changed a LOT since then.  And y'all know by now that I LOVE to get dressed up.  And everyone loves to get dressed up and go out in the City that Never Sleeps!  And I get three whole nights to dress up.  Can you sense my giddiness a little bit?!?  I've been looking at dresses - of course - and love some of these.  What do you think about these styles?  (Side note of no way on earth would I spend over $1,000 on a Herve Leger dress, but one can dream, right?!)

Did you see green?

- Lizzy

St. Patrick's Day is always one of those holidays that seems to sneak up on me.  This is actually horrible of me to admit beings I am extremely Irish and have family that goes all out every year.  It's not that I forget about it... it's just that I put it off and then feel like I'm scrabbling at the last minute to find something green (for me and my girls).  This little collection of green would have been helpful... on Friday!

What I Would Wear: St. Patty's Day

Here's to better luck in planning for next year!

What We Wore Wednesday

We're linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for What I Wore Wednesday!

Day #1
Emily: It was such a beautiful day that I could just throw on a thin cardigan and go. Got to shop with my momma - one of my favorite past times. This was a perfect shopping outfit. Cardigan - Banana Republic; Shirt - The LOFT; Jeans - William Rast; Boots - Frye; Necklace - The Limited; Bracelets - Stella & Dot

Lizzy: This was my Saturday "day" outfit.  We had fun shopping as well, but for the two little ones.  I started pulling my hair to the side... what do you think?  Check Day #3 for my Saturday "night" outfit. Cardigan - TJ Maxx; Shirt - Michael Stars; Jeggings - Gap; Flats - Target

Day #2
Emily:  Yes, I'm sure y'all are just shocked I'm wearing colored denim once again. Well, I'm loving my colored denim, so live with it! LOL. And no, this isn't my Georgia Bulldogs outfit. Maybe I need yellow/gold denim so it could be my Iowa outfit...now, that's an idea! Shirt - Design Theory; Jeans - Old Navy; Boots - Frye; Watch - Coach

Lizzy: This is such a hard time of year to dress for... it's been so warm in STL, but I have yet to pull out my spring stuff (because well - let's face it - I would rather buy new!).  So, I decided on this cute top paired with my new Stella & Dot necklace and new flats!  Top - Old Navy; Jeans - The Limited (they are actually a swap with my friend Annett); Flats - Target; Jewelry - S&D

Day #3
Emily: Look at me...new pose! Thought I'd try something new...that's for you, Pete! Love lazy Sundays where you don't shower until mid-afternoon...and then decide not to put on much makeup. Shirt - Banana Republic; Jeans - Seven for all Mankind; Shoes - Jessica Simpson; Watch - Michael Kors

Lizzy: So, we decided to try our church's Saturday evening service.  I thought with the time change, it would be a little easier for the girls.  So, I went from my "day" to evening pretty quickly (not that this is an actual evening "evening" outfit).  Just needed to freshen up the makeup and find a clean cardigan.  Nine-month little girls are sooo messy!  Cardigan - H&M

If...We Were Asked To Prom...

- Emily

After discussing prom at work today, I thought why not do a post on what Lizzy and I would wear to prom! Let's see...styles are a little different than they were back in the mid to late '90s!!  Here's what I wore to my senior prom in '98 (the dress isn't so bad, but the hair - YUCK!!).

As I was searching for dresses online that I would like, I couldn't help but notice the price tags. I think my mouth dropped open! The first one I clicked on was $800. Uh, what?!? And the next one I saw was $425.  I think the most expensive dress I wore was when I was asked to prom my freshman year when my boyfriend was a senior (gasp....so scandalous) was $325. But, I did get to wear it on a family cruise and to another prom at a different school the next year.

And during my search, I couldn't help but notice how tight and short some of the dresses were...whoa. Now, I'm not a prude, but girls that are wearing these dresses are between 15-18 and these dresses make them look like they are about 22+! Back in my day, we wouldn't even be caught dead in a strapless dress...ha! And then there's the opposite - big, poofy, patterned, and.....wellllllll, so ugly!!!! I actually had a hard time picking out ones I would wear!

But, if I was 18 years old now with an unlimited budget, here are a few of my favorite dresses:

I would definitely have to have a spray tan, but I think this dress is gorgeous. I love the feather detail and fitted form. It's only a measly $598!

Love the ruching on this dress...and I probably wouldn't look great in this color, but it comes in 15 different colors! I'd probably go towards the blue color. It's only a mere $678. LOL

Now this would be so easy to dance and walk in! Love the beautiful yellow color and how flowy it is, but not too poofy. This dress is $370. Look at me - a bargain shopper!

- Lizzy

Now that I've seen Emily's choices... I know for sure - 100% positive - that we are complete opposites in every way imaginable!!  We should have done a post like this months ago!

1) There is no way my parents would have paid $600 for a prom dress.  I had to practically beg for an all-sequined gown my senior year (and I ended up wearing that dress to two college formals and my younger sister wore it to her prom)!  I believe the dress I wore my freshman year (yes, I too went with a senior... double scandalous) was $60.  Heaven only knows where I would find a copy of that picture!

2) I don't like form-fitting dresses... I'm more of an easy breezy type of girl as you will see from my choices below.

When Em suggested this post, I immediately knew what dress I wanted.  I saw it on my cousin's little girl (not so little beings she is going to homecomings/proms).  It was very colorful - had a sequined top and a floral bottom that was really flowy.  So, here is my best attempt to find THAT dress...

What Would I Wear - Prom

I would somehow combine these 3 dress, and then keep it pretty simple with some statement earrings and cute heels!

This was too much fun!  What would you wear if you could go back in time??

It's Monday

- Lizzy

Yes, I will be the first to admit... I've been MIA.  The last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind.  It seems like a never ending cycle of one activity to another.  And throw in a family outbreak of the flu and viola! you have created the perfect storm.  As many people think, being a stay-at-home mom does not mean I sit around all day with my laptop in one hand and my new favorite candy (dark chocolate covered sea salt caramels - thanks Kelli!) in the other.  It does mean, however, that I get to spend every waking moment with the two most precious little girls.  I get to watch their faces when they see each other for the first time in the morning.  I get the first hug and kiss when I pick the older one up from preschool.  And I get to get lost in the curiosity of the tiniest one's exploration.

However, I do find myself at the end of day needing a little "me" time because let's face it... I don't have my lunch hour anymore or the 45 minutes or so from the end of work to when I have to be at the sitter.  I anxiously await this time every day, but lately I've been so exhausted (because this is probably the most emotionally, physically AND mentally exhausting job there is). I've been finding myself ready for bed earlier and earlier.  Which means very little time for anything outside my "job".  So.........

It's Monday and here's to the hope of having a FaBUloUS, productive and rewarding week!  (Catch up with me on Friday to see how it goes ;-)

What I Wore Wednesday

I'm linking up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for What I Wore Wednesday! Lizzy's fam had the flu bug last week, so she's sitting this week out :(

Day #1
Yep! I continue my fascination with stripes. And I LOVE this shirt. Actually funny...my coworker and I had the same color scheme on this day...we were kind of like fraternal twins :)  Shirt - The Limited; Jeans - William Rast; Shoes - Michael Kors; Necklace - Stella & Dot; Watch - Michael Kors

Day #2
Just as I love stripes, I LOVE my colored denim! And I love these...they really don't feel like denim, but more of a brushed twill. Super comfortable! Shirt and Sweater - The Limited; Jeans - AG; Booties - Dolce Vita; Watch - Michael Kors

Day #3
A little cooler of a day, so I thought I would bust out a warm sweater. It is so warm and cozy, which is a bad thing when I'm nice and cozy sitting in front of a computer all day...can we say sleepy?! I have to say I do like my hair a little longer cause it's so much easier to curl. Sweater - The LOFT; Shirt and Pants - The Limited; Belt - Kohl's; Shoes - Steve Madden

Day #4
Opposite of the outfit above, this was a super nice day out. I love the color and pattern of this new shirt. Shirt and Pants - The Limited; Shoes - Steve Madden; Necklaces - Stella & Dot

Day #5
I'm sporting yet another trend - polka dots! My daughter and I have very similar dresses, which I blogged about the other day. I liked adding the pop of red shoes...who doesn't love a great red shoe?!? Dress - Express; Shoes - Jessica Simpson; Bracelets - Stella & Dot

What trends were you sporting last week?

Spring and Summer Colored Denim

- Emily

This fall and winter, I have LOVED my colored denim jeans...as seen here:

Red from Old Navy

Blue from The Limited
Deep Purple from AG

Deep Teal from AG

And I'm not gonna lie, I'm continuing to love the new colors for spring and summer. I got the latest People Style Watch last weekend, and they had the best spread of colored denim; felt like I was looking at sorbet selections at an ice cream store! Here are some of my favorite colors:

Spring Jeans

Spring Jeans by emilette

And what's great about the huge colored denim trend is that you can find them for cheap - hello Forever 21 for $16!!!! I just ordered some kelly green ones from Old Navy online for $25 and I can't wait to get them in the mail!

What are some of your favorite colors? Have you bit the bullet and bought a few pairs?

Fitness Friday {Repeat}

A couple months ago, I wrote about my {new} workout here. Well... I'm still in love with KettleWorx!  It is such a great program, and it produces results!  This says a lot for me beings I easily get bored with doing the same routine over and over.

Well... I was just checking Groupon and there is a special!!  Check it out here.  You can get it for 50% off!  But it only lasts for another 5 days...

Seeing Spots

- Emily

It seems like polka dots are everywhere lately!!! Shirts, shoes, dresses, skirts, iPhone cases, watches. EVERYWHERE! Just look at all the things that have those cute little dots all over them ...
Polka Dots!

I have to admit I love polka dots and so glad the trend is in! Here's how I've worn polka dots over the last few months...

Express dress and Jessica Simpson heels

Anthropologie dress and Steve Madden shoes

Anthropologie skirt and Limited t-shirt

White House Black Market top and Joe's Jeans

H&M top and Limited skirt

Limited top and skirt
Wow. Now that I just pulled those pics, I realized I owned a lot more polka dot things than I thought! Ha! (And looking back at some of these photos, I desperately need a spray tan now...)

So do you love the dots, too?
