Day #1
I love putting together bright outfits. They just make me happy. And I continue my obsession with cobalt blue. Shirt - Old Navy; Cardigan - J. Crew; Skirt - Express; Belt - Gap; Shoes - Vince Camuto; Necklace - Stella & Dot; Bracelets - Coach

Day #2
Oh yes, I continue being colorful. I've always been a girl who loves pink. And if you have a little girl, I'm sure you love the book Pinkilicious - Pink, pink, pink! :) This is the 2nd pair of Old Navy colored skinnies that I have, and if you try them on in the store be forewarned. Size up two sizes. I usually wear a 6 in their denim, and these are a 10. Shirt - Gap; Jeans - Old Navy; Shoes - Charles David; Cuff - Louis Vuitton; Necklace - Stella & Dot

Day #3
Happy Mother's Day! Only one of my children who take a pic with me :( Little man is just being a stink lately when it comes to taking pics. As you can see, the girl loves the camera. Hmmm...I wonder where she gets that from?? It was a chilly day in GA, so I opted for a warmer outfit for church. Shirt - Anthropologie; Jeans - Seven for all Mankind; Shoes - Frye; Earrings - Stella & Dot; Watch - Coach

Day #4
I've had this little blazer from Anthro FOREVA. It was screaming at me to wear it. And I love the pale yellow color. The brown needed a little pop. Blazer - Anthropologie; Shirt - J. Crew; Pants - The Limited; Shoes - Steve Madden; Cuff - Stella & Dot

How are you adding color to your wardrobe this spring/summer?

Swimsuit Season is Here!

- Emily

Oh yes, my friends...swimsuit season is here! The pool at my gym opened last weekend, and of course we had to go. My children are part fish and just had to get in the water! Some people love shopping for swimsuits, while others hate it. Or even loathe it. I'm probably somewhere in the middle. Do you ever notice how some lighting in the dressing rooms show every bump and lump on your body?! Yep. That's when I loathe looking for suits. And I definitely recommend suit shopping with a close friend/spouse who is going to tell you the absolute truth. I bought a few new suits this season, and my personal shopper was the girl. Yep - she tells me the truth...even at the ripe ol' age of 7.

Here are some suits that I thought were super cute and caught my eye.

Since I've had my kids, I gravitate towards one pieces. Even though I'm comfortable in my skin, I do have stretch marks. They have definitely faded and barely show when I have a spray tan, so I will bust out a two piece occasionally. Ok, more on the rarely side :)

If you love one pieces like I do, you'll notice styles have changes so much over the years. I love the retro styles, especially Juicy Couture's swimsuits. I know they can be pricey, but I recommend trying a couple on in the store to see what size you are and then stalk the sales on Rue La La, Gilt, and Haute Look. You can catch Juicy on those sites all the time, and their suits will be half off or more. Last year, I got a swimdress for $62...originally $170. And these suits are so well made; I highly recommend them.

Have you bought a new swim suit this season? How did you like the process?

Well, I was out last week because of work, and now Liz is out this week because of camera issues. So....let's get on with WWWW!! I love how WWWW has changed the way I dress. I definitely find myself looking at the pieces I have and figuring out new ways to wear them. So glad The Pleated Poppy started WIWW!

And today is my birthday!!!! So be kind with the comments :) You could tell me I look like I'm just turning 25 and I'd love you forever. LOL

Day #1
Concert night!! My parents, husband and I went to see The Eagles. It had been 10 years since I saw them last, and they were just as good. It was an outdoor show, and this outfit was perfect. Shirt - Victoria's Secret; Jeans - Seven for all Mankind; Shoes and Watch - Michael Kors; Necklace - Stella & Dot

Day #2
While my spray tan was in full effect, I thought I would bust out a strapless shirt. Kept me nice and cool on a very hot day in the ATL. I love the turquoise color! Shirt - ???; Jeans - Joe's; Shoes - Charles David; Watch - Coach

Day #3
Since I missed last week, I thought I would post this one from a few weeks ago. The sun is blinding me a little, but I love this little yellow shirt from Old Navy. The only downsize, you need to wear a strapless bra with it - but I just love polka dots, and for $10, I couldn't pass it up.  Shirt - Old Navy; Jeans - Seven for all Mankind; Shoes - Kohl's; Watch - Michael Kors

Day #4
I guess since I'm a working mom, I could throw in a couple of work outfits :) This dress I got on sale at Anthro in Vegas. It is so lightweight and easy to thrown on. And I've been trying to add more fun prints to my wardrobe, and I think this fits the bill quite nicely. Dress - Anthropologie; Shoes - Charles David; Watch - Michael Kors; Necklace - Stella & Dot

Day #5
Did you think I'd really do a post without including a pencil skirt??!! I think not! I've had this skirt for a few years now, and I love the floral pattern. I usually wear it with a green cardigan, but I opted for a light purple t-shirt today instead. Shirt - The Loft; Skirt - J. Crew; Necklace and Bracelet - Stella & Dot; Shoes - DVF

So how did this birthday girl do?

Inspired by The Avengers

- Emily

My son is a big fan of Iron Man and Captain America...so, we had to go and see The Avengers this weekend. I was a little hesitant he could sit through the 2 hours and 22 minutes, but he did great. The movie was really good - but I'm a sucker for a good action flick. I take it over a chick flick any day of the week. And let's not forget to mention all of the eye candy in the Avengers...!! Captain America is probably my favorite super hero in the movie. So why not dedicate a post to the man in red, white, and blue?

P.S. If you don't know if the movie is ok for little ones, my little man is 5.5 and he wasn't scared at all. There is obviously just a lot of fighting sequences...and some weird looking aliens that some little ones could find scary.

THE Red Bottom Shoes!

- Emily

Ok, we've dedicated much of this blog to fashion. Right? Well fellow fashionistas, I got THE red bottom shoes. The best birthday present I've ever gotten (or so far in my 32 years). Being an only child definitely has its perks because these were a present from my mom and dad!! No, I did not pay that much myself for shoes.

I got them at the Christian Louboutin store in Las Vegas. But, I do have to say with dropping that much money on a pair of shoes, the sales clerk was rude and NOT very helpful. I just wanted a simple pump that I know I could wear with everything...and they are actually called the Simple Pump with a 3" heel. I tried on the slightly higher heeled version, and the arch was too much for my feet. These fit like a glove! And I have to say they are very comfortable! Yep. I'm in love.

So needless to say, I'm a very happy girl who got a great early birthday present!

What I Wore Wednesday

Well, well... this is a first for me!  I don't think I've ever done WIWW all by myself!!  This is one of Emily's favorite days of the week, but she was traveling with work yesterday and wasn't able to link up.  So, here I am... all by myself...

Outfit #1
As you might recall, we moved almost two years ago.  If you've ever moved, you know it takes time before you find friends.  We were really lucky to have met our neighbors... but guess what?!?  They are moving :(  This is the outfit I wore to a going away party.  We went to Sips N Splatters... lots O fun!  Top - Old Navy; Jeans - DL1961; Heels (yes, I'm actually wearing heels) - Jessica Simpson; Jewelry - Stella & Dot

Outfit #2
Last Saturday, we took the girls to the zoo.  It was the perfect weather for the zoo!  Not too hot and not too cold.  Top - CAbi; Scarf - The Limited; Jeans - DL1961; Shoes - Converse

Outfit #3
Here's a little secret of mine... in most of my pics I've got little ones running around (look at the bottom of the above pic).  However, most of the time Emily edits/crops them out, because I'm just not that talented with technology!  This one is Ava.  And this outfit is what I wore to church... yes, it's extremely casual!!  Top - LOFT; Scarf - Francesca's; Jeans - Gap; Shoes - Old Navy

So, I guess technically I'm not alone this week!  Do your little ones love the camera?

Clothes for the Bump

One of Lizzy's sisters is having her first baby - congrats, M!!! So we thought we'd dedicate this post to maternity clothes. Love them or hate them, at some point in your pregnancy, they kind of become a necessity. Even if you are super skinny, towards the end, normal clothes aren't long enough to cover the bump. So here are some of our maternity tips...

- Emily

Ok, let my start by first saying I'm so glad I'm never going to wear pregnancy clothes EVA again. But, I remember one October morning when I found out I was having my first baby, I was so excited about having a bump. And oh boy, did I have a bump and 50 extra pounds. But I have to admit on the maternity clothes front, the best thing I did was stock up on clearance spring and summer maternity clothes for when I knew I would need them. I got shirts from Old Navy and Gap for like $5 a piece. Now that's my kind of deal!

My favorite Gap sweater I wore throughout both pregnancies!
When we lived back in Small Town, Illinois, there were not many places to buy maternity clothes at all, so I fast became an online shopper. Many of the companies recommended that you ordered your same size; and many were right. The only thing that was hard was ordering pants. And I quickly learned as my bump grew that I liked panel pants the best. The under belly pants were just coming out, and the pair of jeans I bought would NOT stay up and drove me nuts! Now, I know they have new contraptions out there so you can wear your normal pants longer, but there was no way my big booty could even attempt to get in my normal jeans when I was even just 6 months pregnant, so they wouldn't have even helped me then.

There are a few items that I think you should definitely get for your maternity wardrobe:

  • T-shirts - remember, you can always dress them up with jewelry
  • For working moms, a couple of pair of black and brown pants
  • Swim suit
  • Workout shorts/pants
  • At least one dress (even though with maxi's in style, I would have worn those ALL the time if I could have)
  • Comfy shoes, especially for working moms. Clarks became my favorite brand!
Even if shirts seem too big at the beginning, get them anyway! Trust me; you'll grow into them. And the last thing you want to do towards the end of your pregnancy is spend MORE money on clothes you aren't going to be wearing for much longer!

- Lizzy

So, when I first discovered I was pregnant (the first time around), Emily was one of the first people who knew.  Two days after I took the test, she looked at me and said "you're pregnant"... whoa!  Obviously my first trimester was misery!

I've been fortunate to only gain about 25-30 lbs during each pregnancy, so I didn't need to really start looking for new clothes until well into my second trimester.  And fortunately, I received a couple hand-me-downs.  This is my number one tip for dressing the bump.  Beg, borrow and wear!  I just handed over a huge bag of maternity clothes to my sis.  I'm a sincere believer we should all share these clothes, because looking back some of the things I've bought have been such a waste!  Some things were only worn once or twice... so, share the love!

I'm also a HUGE fan of Gap Maternity.  In fact, most of my clothes from my second pregnancy were from Gap... jeans, tees, tunics (love wearing tunics with leggings or skinnies), etc.

And my final piece of advice would be to not be afraid to where the same things over and over and over.  It's only a couple months... we can go a couple months without shopping, right??  Hmmm... well... maybe?

With Em in Chicago... 8-months pregnant... wearing on of my favorite dresses that wasn't even maternity!!

Another tunic and leggings... 31 weeks
